Forlini Praises Credit Union Advocacy Efforts
Credit union representatives from across Michigan descended upon Lansing on Wednesday for the Michigan Credit Union League’s annual Government Affairs Convention.
The main topic: MCUL’s work alongside Michigan credit unions to pass an updated Michigan Credit Union Act, which has already passed through the House with almost unanimous support and is awaiting a vote in the State Senate. The proposed legislation includes more than 40 updates for credit unions, such as regulatory reform, changes to the examination process and the ability to offer loan promotion raffles.
Below, watch Rep. Tony Forlini, the Chair of the House Financial Services Committee, discuss MCUL’s role in helping to push and updated MCUA forward. Forlini was also recognized by MCUL as the league's 2016 State Lawmaker of the Year.
The GAC continues through Thursday with sessions on regulatory reform, PAC fundraising, and a state and federal election forecast.
