Casual Day to Raise Financial Awareness
The National Credit Union Foundation is inviting credit union organizations to hold a Financial Fitness Day fundraiser on April 6 to kick off National Financial Literacy Month and National Credit Union Youth Month™. This initiative will raise funds for the Foundation and state credit union foundations in support of their financial education initiatives.
To participate, credit union organizations should hold a Jeans or Casual Day fundraiser for staff on April 6.
"Holding a casual day for staff on April 6 is a fun and easy way to show support for such an essential cause across the country," said Danielle Brown, Foundation Director of Development and Donor Relations. "Financial education is a critical focus of many credit unions’ outreach efforts in order to improve the financial well-being of their members and community. Your support ensures that state credit union foundations, as well as the Foundation, can continue to provide you with more programs, grants and resources to help you improve your members' lives."
The campaign website can be found here. Included on the website are other campaign resources such as additional fundraising ideas, sample newsletter/blog articles, sign-up sheets, supporter sticker and wall pin-up templates, sample tweets and social media images, web buttons and banners and more.
"The theme this year for Youth Month is 'Credit Union Strong,' which is all about showing young members why credit unions are the number one place for financial fitness," said Jeremiah Tucker, Youth Month Coordinator for CUNA. "Kicking off with a Financial Fitness Day is a great tie-in to this theme. More so, we encourage you to position your credit unions as a source of financial strength all month long, where staff members serve as personal trainers to get kids in top financial shape."
Donations made as part of the initiative will be split 50/50 between the Foundation and the state credit union foundation in which the donation was made. The donations can be made here.
Please consider holding a “Financial Fitness Day” at your credit union (any day in April) to support financial education via credit unions. This is a great way to show your members and your community about your activities and the credit union difference while contributing to national and state financial education programming through the Foundation and the Michigan Credit Union Foundation. Credit unions may customize events to include member financial education awareness events or simply hold a dress down day.Go to main navigation
