AC&E Reinvention: Great Networking Kicks Off June 3

For the first time, MCUL & Affiliates is hosting a special event on Wednesday night before the opening of the Annual Convention and Exhibition.  Attendees to “A Taste of Traverse City” will get complimentary tastes of up to four beverages from local breweries and wineries. The beers and wines will also be available for sale.

The AC&E takes place Thursday through Saturday, June 4-6, at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa near Traverse City. The new networking reception takes place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, outdoors under the Grand Traverse Resort Pavilion. Attendees will also enjoy snacks, a bon fire to roast marshmallows, cash bar and musical entertainment by a surprise performer.

“Attendees will be able to meet up with some of their friends and try some Michigan beer or wine,” Events Manager Janet Ormsby said. “It will be fun.”

The league created the event to encourage attendees to arrive on Wednesday so they wake up onsite and are ready for the Center Stage opening session at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

But it will also provide an evening networking event for golfers who attend Wednesday’s annual Charity Golf Outing benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The AC&E offers plenty of social time and opportunities to mix and mingle with other attendees, vendors and speakers. First-time attendees to the Grand Traverse Resort should plan on attending the "What to Know! Where to Go" session Thursday at 9 a.m., a great place to meet other conference goers. Also on Thursday, the exposition hall opens at 3:30 p.m. and the CU Solutions Group "Red Hot Welcome Reception" (included in registration) takes place that evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday offers the opportunity to attend "Lunch and Learn Roundtables" with groups for small-, medium- and large-asset size credit unions. The sessions are ticketed and discussions are focused on the "Top Ten Credit Union Trends." A "Live Auction, Cocktail Hour and Light Refreshments" event (included in registration) to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: Credit Unions for Kids kicks-off Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features a wide selection of exciting items that are sure to create a bidding frenzy.

The three big networking opportunities for Saturday include the 9 a.m. Honor Awards Program (includes breakfast as part of registration) and features entertainment by The Water Coolers, along with the Credit Union Executive Society Luncheon (ticketed) at 12:15 p.m. The closing event (ticketed) at 8 p.m. will showcase the comedy of Tom Wilson, the bully who everyone loved to hate in the “Back to the Future” movies.

Networking and peer-to-peer exchange is a tremendous value of attending the AC&E and there is still time to register. Download and print the AC&E agenda and training schedule here.
