MCUL Joins Home Depot Data Breach Lawsuit; Credit Union Plaintiffs Sought
MCUL & Affiliates has joined CUNA as a plaintiff in a lawsuit against Home Depot for its September 2014 data breach.
In addition, Ken Ross, MCUL executive vice president and COO, said at least one Michigan credit union is likely to be added as a named plaintiff in the class action lawsuit this week.
CUNA News Now reported that plaintiff lawyers are seeking at least one plaintiff from each state for the class action lawsuit. The deadline for joining the suit is May 15.
Home Depot has acknowledged that 56 million credit and debit cards were compromised in the September 2014 data breach. CUNA said the breach has cost credit unions tens of millions of dollars, but did not give a more precise estimate of the costs.
Credit unions interested in joining the lawsuit as plaintiffs should contact Ross at (800) 262-6285, ext. 405, or Ken.Ross@mcul.org.Go to main navigation
