MCUL & Affiliates honored two friends in Washington for their service to the industry.

MCUL awarded Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, with its Federal Legislator of the Year award for his support of important policy issues including the credit union tax exemption.

Huizenga was also given the Chapter Champion Award by the MOON Chapter.

Huizenga serves on the House Financial Services Committee and also chairs the subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade.

"It’s been a pleasure working with all of you,” Huizenga said. “We’ll continue to fight for the credit union tax exemption.”

In, addition MCUL honored Eric Feldman with the Federal Staffer of the Year award. Feldman is the chief of staff for Sen. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Hills.

Feldman served as Peters’ chief of staff in his D.C. office starting January of 2009, when Peters was a member of the U.S. House. He manages and guides Peters’ legislative and constituent relations team members.

Feldman has been a credit union ally during Hike the Hill. In addition, he works closely with credit union leaders and reaches out to MCUL & Affiliates on issues of importance.
