Two Credit Unions Merge into Community West CU

Two west Michigan credit unions are merging into Community West CU in Kentwood in an effort to capitalize on the strengths of each institution.

Rockford Community FCU in Rockford merged into Community West CU on January 1, 2015.
All Community West products and services will be available through the Rockford branch by early summer.

In addition, Founders Community FCU in Middleville is expected to merge into Community West CU by Feb. 2.

Community West President/CEO Jon Looman said the mergers will allow the credit union to better serve members through enhanced products and services, additional branches and lower fees and rates.

“With the mergers of both Founders Community Federal Credit Union and Rockford Community Federal Credit Union we have added 10 amazing employees who are committed to the credit union philosophy and two locations in strong loyal communities,” President/CEO Jon Looman, said. “All members will benefit with added products, services and locations.”

Community West CU serves nearly 14,000 members and its assets total more than $125 million.
