AC&E: 2017 MCUL Awards Breakfast Honors the Best of Michigan Credit Unions
The final day of the MCUL/CUSG 2017 AC&E kicked off with an awards breakfast that recognized the great work being done by Michigan credit unions and their employees.
This year’s event recognized innovation, volunteerism, community involvement, excellence in advocacy, a commitment to providing financial education for youth and much more. The ceremony also featured music and entertainment by the Water Coolers, as well as a loving tribute on behalf of the credit union industry to our friend and colleague Mike Newman, who passed away earlier this year.
The following are the recipients of 2017 MCUL Awards:
Youth Advocate of the Year Award: Ashley Fordyce, Extra Credit Union
Chapter Effectiveness Award: Mid-Michigan Chapter
Extra Credit Union ($50-400M)
Frankenmuth Credit Union ($400M+)
Young Professional of the Year Award: Jacob Darabos (CASE CU)
Professional of the Year Award: Sara Dolan (MSUFCU)
Outstanding CU of the Year Award:
Safe Harbor Credit Union (Small Asset)
FreeStar Financial Credit Union (Medium Asset)
Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (Large Asset)
Distinguished Service Award: John Crist (CP Federal Credit Union)
Excellence in Consumer Education Award:
Individual: Erin Ilg (Community Financial Credit Union)
Credit Union: Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union
Credit Union Community Volunteer Award: Bridget (Looby) Staffileno (Catholic Federal Credit Union)
As emcees, the Water Coolers also recognized Michigan credit unions who received CUNA awards, including Washtenaw Federal Credit Union who went on to win a national CUNA Dora Maxwell Award.
