Nussle Congratulates 2022 CUNA National Award Winners

nusToday, during a virtual ceremony on Zoom, CUNA CEO Jim Nussle congratulated all of the 2022 CUNA National Award winners, including two Michigan credit union winners: Genisys Credit Union and Extra Credit Union.

After a brief congratulations, all national winners broke out into separate virtual rooms to take photos with Nussle.

National CUNA Award Winners

Dora Maxwell Award, First Place: Genisys Credit Union

Genisys was awarded first place in the Dora Maxwell Award category for the project One Kitchen, Unlimited Reach: Eliminating Homelessness with Genisys Credit Union & Lighthouse. With this project, Genisys donated to support renovating the Commercial Kitchen, volunteered to transition the Campus into an emergency shelter, and provided funds to stock the Commercial Kitchen. The credit union volunteered more than 140 hours, donated $60,000 in renovation funds and employees raised $8,000.

Louise Herring Award, Second Place: Extra Credit Union

Extra was awarded second place in the Louise Herring Award category for the project Believing in Second Chances. With this project, Extra created a suite of products specifically for members experiencing financial hardship: Extra Credit Checking, OnTrack Auto Loan, Extra Quick Loan and a secured Extra Credit Union Platinum Mastercard®. These products allow individuals to manage their finances, get through tough times, get to work to earn an income and more—all while rebuilding credit and working toward financial success.

"Congratulations to Genisys and Extra Credit Unions for their national wins," said MCUl CEO Patty Corkery. "Their projects are making a real impact on Michiganders' lives and truly deserve to be recognized."
