The latest episode of MCUL’s podcast series, Credit Unions, Coffee and Conversation, features guest Diane Abbonizio, CEO of United Bay Community Credit Union.
Diane, a native Michigander, talks with MCUL CEO Patty Corkery about her return to the state a few years back to lead United Bay, a Bay City-based organization holding $280 million in assets and hosting 18,000 members.
The two discuss her journey out west and how she was drawn into the non-profit business model that eventually drove her to the credit union industry. Abbonizio discusses how she leads United Bay with a collaboration-first approach, as well as the many joys of developing strategies to help members.
She also talks with Corkery about the specific challenges of small-asset credit unions during the past couple years and how she navigates them.
