Around the Lake in Eight Days: A Fundraiser Supporting the Michigan Credit Union Foundation
Beginning on August 29th, Dr. Lamont Black of Wide Open Ventures will take on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge: biking around Lake Michigan in just eight days. His 1,000-mile journey, Around the Lake in Eight Days, is more than a personal adventure - it’s a way to raise awareness and support for the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF).
MCUF’s mission is to empower credit unions to increase financial well-being for people and communities across Michigan. Donations raised through this campaign will directly support programs in three core areas:
- Community Enrichment Support – grant funding to help credit unions improve financial well-being for families, businesses, and local communities.
- Financial Education & Counseling Support – resources and training to strengthen financial health, like Financial Reality Fairs and the Michigan Enhanced Financial Counselor Training Program.
- Credit Union Leadership Development – scholarships and events to support the next generation of credit union leaders and CEOs.
Lamont has long been a friend and champion of credit unions, and now he’s inviting you to join him on this adventure. As he pedals around Lake Michigan, every mile represents a step toward stronger communities and brighter financial futures.
