Michigan Credit Union League

Volunteering with Our Committees

The Michigan Credit Union League is encouraging credit union professionals and volunteers to serve on one of the MCUL’s committees and task forces. Your input is valuable to the MCUL in fulfilling the needs of our member credit unions.

Why Volunteer?

Committee and task force members not only have an opportunity to provide direct input on various topics, they also garner different perspectives on key issues facing credit unions. What’s more, they provide credit union professionals and volunteers with a great opportunity to network.

Committee/Task Force Structure

MCUL committees and task forces provide input and recommendations on a variety of credit union issues and topics. Committees are made up of CEOs, volunteers and senior staff from member credit unions with years of experience in the credit union community.

To ensure that the MCUL has input from a diverse population consideration for appointments is given to regional location and asset size of credit unions.  It is also important that committees reflect the blend of responsibilities from credit union management and volunteers and therefore representation from both these groups is a goal in committee appointments. The MCUL strives for representation of women, minorities, and a diversity of education and experience to closely reflect the composition of member credit union officials.

The following are the current MCUL standing committees and task forces.
  • Awards and Community Reinvestment Committee
  • CU Link (FKA CU Difference)
  • Educational Needs Committee
  • Examination & Supervision Committee
  • Government and Political Affairs Forum
  • State & Federal Issues Working Group
  • Financial Education Committee
  • MCUL Task Forces and Councils

Each committee, as a general rule, is composed of a chair, vice chair and credit union officials from among the membership and an MCUL staff liaison, who carries out the daily responsibilities for the committee. Through recommendations to the MCUL Board of Directors, these committees assist the association in being responsive on issues, and identifying new services and programs within the charge of each committee. Committees meet as business may require, but at least once a year, with additional telephone and written correspondence throughout the year.
