MCUF YP Experience Scholarship
The Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) offers YP Experience Scholarships to help young professionals experience the MCUL Annual Convention & Exposition (ACE), Michigan’s largest annual credit union event.
Scholarships cover the full cost of ACE registration, giving emerging credit union professionals the opportunity to connect with peers, learn from industry leaders, explore new ideas and experience all that ACE has to offer.
The YP Experience Scholarship is designed to make ACE more accessible to young professionals while supporting their continued growth, development and engagement within Michigan’s credit union community.

About Us
Young Professionals Sustaining the CU Movement
FUEL MI, funded in part by the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, aims to expand, support and provide opportunities for networking, collaboration, leadership development and cooperative community outreach for emerging credit union professionals.
The FUEL MI Young Professionals Networking Group is searching for driven and dedicated young professionals who are passionate about sustaining the credit union movement to join the statewide program. Group members will meet five times a year and be responsible for determining and implementing methods for participants to connect, interact and learn about the credit union industry and movement, as well as actively participate in community outreach initiatives throughout Michigan.
The group will focus on expanding opportunities for young professionals in the credit unions in these areas:
- Networking / Chapter Involvement
- Professional Development / Advocacy Awareness
- Charitable Outreach / Credit Union Social Mission Initiative
What does the FUELmi membership give your YP?
The FUELmi membership includes participation in all FUELmi meetings and events—statewide, district, and virtual—as well as registration for the YP Summit. Additionally, FUELmi provides a set number of scholarships each year for conferences such as the CUES Future Summit and AC&E. These scholarships cover registration costs and offer additional exclusive benefits for FUEL YP Scholarship recipients.

FUELmi meetings are broken up into 3 categories
Statewide Meetings
(In-person)
- Held before major credit union events like the CUES Conference (February), State GAC (April), and AC&E (June).
- Features speakers from within and beyond the industry, focusing on skills development and current trends.
District Meetings
(In-person)
- District meetings are typically held once per quarter.
- Hosted at rotating credit unions within the district.
- Full-day events featuring industry speakers on quarterly focus topics.
Virtual Meetings
- Held quarterly and last one hour.
- Features industry guest speakers sharing insights on quarterly focus topics.
FUELmi YP Leadership Summit
The annual FUELmi YP Leadership Summit is a one-day conference designed specifically for young professionals in Michigan’s credit union industry. Held each June in conjunction with the MCUL Annual Convention & Exposition (ACE), the Summit brings young professionals from across the state together for a full day of learning, networking, and professional development.
The Summit features engaging speakers from both inside and outside the credit union industry, with sessions focused on building leadership skills, strengthening professional connections, and supporting young professionals as they grow in their careers.
Registration for the YP Leadership Summit is included with the FUELmi membership. The event is also open to young professionals who are not currently FUELmi members for an additional registration fee.

Benefits
FUELmi is continually seeking new benefits to offer its members. For example, in 2024, FUELmi partnered with CUES to pilot the Essential Leaders Program, securing an affordable participation cost exclusively for FUELmi members.
District and Conference Leadership
FUELmi members with at least one year of membership can run for district leadership positions. District leaders plan quarterly meetings, including locations, speakers, and more. They also coordinate special events at conferences like the CUES Future Summit and AC&E, organizing activities for YP scholarship attendees.
Requirements
- Members must pay their annual dues before attending any FUELmi events.
- There are no participation requirements after paying FUELmi registration dues. While involvement is encouraged, job duties take priority, and attendance at meetings or events is not mandatory. Members get as much out of FUELmi as they put into it.
