MCUL Endorses State and Federal Candidates
The 2012 general election is approaching rapidly, and it will be critical for credit union members, employees and volunteers to make their voice heard and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 6. This year, all 110 seats in the state House of Representatives are up for election, as are all 14 U.S. House seats and one U.S. Senate seat.
The Board of Trustees of the Michigan Credit Union League Action Fund and Michigan Credit Union League Legislative Action Fund, our state and federal PACs, has carefully reviewed candidate surveys, input from members and information related to individual elections. Based on that review, the board has recommended support for a slate of candidates for state and federal office, which can be found by clicking here.
“These candidates have demonstrated a strong understanding of and commitment to credit union issues and values, and MCUL looks forward to working with them in the new legislative sessions,” MCUL & Affiliates CEO Dave Adams said.
Additionally, there are other important issues facing voters this year, including elections for the Michigan Supreme Court and at least six ballot initiatives. While MCUL does not historically get involved in these absent an issue important to credit unions, many state lawmakers have developed guides to the ballot questions for their constituents.
