Kieran Marion, Senior Vice President of Advocacy
Kieran is the Senior Vice President of Advocacy, overseeing Government Affairs and Regulatory Affairs.
The Government Affairs and Regulatory Affairs departments provide a strong voice for Michigan’s credit unions with state and federal policy makers on legislative and regulatory issues. These teams work to drive change and remove barriers for Michigan’s credit unions every day through a comprehensive approach to advocacy.
The Government Affairs and Regulatory Affairs departments work closely with credit union leaders to develop and respond to policy initiatives, and keep them connected in a constantly evolving political landscape. They also collaborate with the Communications and Education teams to keep Michigan’s credit unions informed about public sector developments and help them take advantage of key opportunities that will help them grow and better serve their membership.
Renee Werth, Senior Vice President of Education & Communications
Renee Werth joined MCUL & Affiliates in 2008 and currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Education and Communications. Renee oversees Michigan Credit Union League’s (MCUL) education, communication and the Michigan Credit Union Foundation.
Renee has led MCUL’s education and events team for more than ten years, working closely with credit union leaders and subject matter experts to deliver innovative and high quality educational experiences to Michigan credit union professionals. MCUL’s forward thinking and relevant educational events are well attended and provide significant opportunities for Michigan credit unions to advance and network. Renee also oversees MCUL’s dynamic communication initiatives which are focused on strengthening the credit union industry and in increasing credit union membership. This includes MCUL’s cooperative advertising campaign, CU Link, which expands and magnifies the positive impact of credit unions to Michigan consumers.
As the League Trustee to the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF), Renee is actively engaged in leading the growth and expanded social mission impact of the foundation. MCUF supports credit union financial education and community reinvestment activities and provides targeted professional development with a goal of helping more people, families and communities feel the credit union difference in Michigan.
Prior to joining MCUL, Renee served for more than eight years with Jackson National Life as a management development consultant and more than three years as a school director at Ross Medical School. Renee's career includes adjunct faculty positions at Olivet College and Davenport University. Renee has held several board seats including service on the Board of Veterinary Medicine, the CDA Alumni Advisory Board at Central Michigan University, and the South-Central Michigan American Red Cross. Renee holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from Central Michigan University.
Jordan Kingdon, Vice President of Government Affairs
Jordan is the Vice President of Government Affairs, which is comprised of Legislative Affairs, Grassroots Advocacy and Political Action.
Jordan's team advocates for the credit union movement in Lansing and Washington, DC by working to create a better operating environment for credit unions so they can bring more benefits to their members.
The Government Affairs team partners with credit union leaders to deliver their message to legislative and regulatory leaders, ensuring the public has continued access to a robust credit union system. The team also coordinates grassroots activity throughout Michigan.
Amanda Tuckey, Vice President of Marketing & Communications
Amanda is the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, overseeing marketing and communications activities. Her team manages the public profile and messaging for MCUL, including print collateral development, website and digital communications, social media, public relations and corporate brand management.
As lead on the Awards Committee, Amanda organizes and executes the MCUL awards program and ceremony with partnering credit unions. Additionally, as lead on the CU Link Committee, she develops and maintains the holistic public persona for credit unions across the state through the CU Link Campaign.
Amanda’s team serves as support to the entire agency and its partners. From driving research initiatives to MCUL’s advocacy efforts to educational events and Foundation support, Amanda’s team collaborates with all MCUL divisions and its members.
Sarah Stevenson, Director of Regulatory Affairs
Sarah is the Director of Regulatory Affairs for MCUL & Affiliates, overseeing regulatory initiatives and the League's compliance helpline.
She and her team review proposed rules from the various governing regulatory agencies, assessing the impact to Michigan’s credit unions and advocating for change at the state and federal level. The team also assists credit unions with compliance through the compliance helpline and Destination Compliance in order to help credit unions manage through regulatory and compliance burden.
The regulatory affairs department also works closely with credit union leaders to deliver strong messaging to state and federal regulators. Additionally, the team collaborates with the government affairs team on key issues impacting credit unions at the state and federal level.
