Implement a CRI Program
The MCUL, through the Community Reinvestment Initiative, offers turnkey solutions for credit unions to implement products and services for those consumers using high cost alternative financial services such as payday lenders, check cash providers and tax filing services. CRI products and services offered are tailored to save the consumer money and at the same time provide an opportunity for the consumer to learn how to begin to build personal wealth through credit union financial education and counseling.

A nonprofit organization dedicated to making energy improvements easy and affordable for consumers. Michigan credit unions worked with other partners to create the Home Energy Loan Program to help homeowners finance the cost of energy efficiency improvements. Additional financing programs for commercial, institutional, and renewable energy projects are in development.
The signature program of the National Credit Union Foundation. Working through state credit union leagues or associations, the program’s intent is to help credit unions provide new products and services to meet the financial needs of low wealth households.
