Mark has been a credit union member for over 30 years and a credit union board director for 22 years. Prior to moving to the US from Australia he was the Deputy Chairman of Australian National Credit Union, then Australia’s largest credit union and the Volunteer & Resources Manager with the Australian Credit Union Foundation. He also served on the boards of two other cooperatives and the academic council of a business college.
Since moving to the US five years ago, Mark has delivered more than 200 presentations to credit union conferences in 48 states, predominantly on issues relating to credit union philosophy, serving the underserved, taxation and board governance. He has established himself as a credit union consultant specializing in board governance, strategic planning, housing counseling, program and product development and project management.
Mark has also worked in several states assisting credit unions to develop strategic and management plans. He is also assisting several credit union boards improve their governance standards.
Mark is a US and Australian Credit Union Development Educator. He has over 20 years experience in managing not for profit organizations and he is an experienced consultant, trainer, facilitator and presenter.
For the last four years, Mark has provided technical assistance to credit unions in the HUD Home Counseling Program. Through this program, credit unions are providing a valuable service to low wealth households through education and counseling. He is now working with the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions on this program.
For the last three years, Mark has also worked as a REAL Solutions Field Coach with the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and New Jersey Leagues to help credit unions develop programs and services aimed at low wealth households in those states.
