CRI/Future Visions Committee Charge

In February 2004, the Michigan Credit Union League Board of Directors approved the creation of a special task force to specifically explore development and implementation of partner-based initiatives for strengthening Michigan communities. Participants in this Community Reinvestment Initiative (CRI) Task Force are credit union officials, state and federal regulators and other partner organizations helpful in fulfilling the group’s charge.

The Task Force identified six strategic areas that are key to strengthening Michigan neighborhoods and communities. By elevating their social mission to a strategic level, and then focusing that mission on these six priority areas, credit unions can make an even greater impact in the lives of millions of Michiganians, particularly those of modest means.

In 2008 the CRI Task Force was combined with the MCUL Future Vision Committee to become the CRI/Future Vision Committee. There are five strategic areas that will be the focus of the CRI/Future Vision Committee, these priority areas are areas where credit unions can make a difference in the lives of their members and in the broader community. The five strategic areas are: Economic Solutions, Financial Education, Modest Means, CU Access and Growth and Public Communications.
