Our Commitment to Financial Education

The Michigan Credit Union League, along with its member credit unions, is an ardent supporter of Money $mart Week, the annual financial

literacy initiative spearheaded by the Federal Reserve Bank – Detroit Branch and 32 partner organizations.

Now in it’s fifth year, Money $mart Week is a coordinated, statewide financial literacy blitz aimed at educating youth, the elderly and the unbanked about personal finance. Last year the effort educated over 18,000 Michigan consumers about such topics as budgeting and saving, identity theft prevention, the prudent use of credit, and more!

In 2007 Michigan credit unions together sponsored some 50 financial education seminars and events aimed at education the elderly, youth and the unbanked about responsible money management.
