The MCUL has scheduled its 13th Annual Hike the Hill grassroots lobbying trip to Washington for June 4-5. Participation in this year’s Hike the Hill will be as important as ever. Michigan CU leaders will be communicating to protect our tax-exempt status and support much-needed regulatory relief.
MCUL’s annual Hike the Hill event is a great opportunity to make an impact on federal lawmakers and their staff during our hill visits. In addition to protecting our tax exemption and pushing for regulatory relief, we’ll continue to educate members on legislation to: 1) raise the CU business lending cap; 2) permit CUs access to regulator-approved forms of supplemental capital; 3) eliminate the annual privacy notice communication unless there has been a change in policy; and 4) increase regulatory exam fairness through increased transparency. Credit union officials will also have the opportunity to receive updates from NCUA Chair Debbie Matz at a special MCUL luncheon on June 4. Your presence at Hike the Hill is tremendously important to the league’s efforts in Washington. A limited number of hotel rooms have been reserved at the Embassy Suites near the convention center in Washington and reservations can be made until May 11. You can also click here to apply for the “Michele Myrick CURE Defense Fund Scholarship” to help cover your CU’s participation.
