NCUA Issues First 2013 Legal Opinion 

On March 29 the NCUA issued its first legal opinion of the year regarding Balloting at Special Meetings of Members. The opinion clarifies the process for special meetings called to remove a credit union board member. The NCUA stated that a credit union board member can only be removed by a vote of members at a special meeting called for that purpose and that the use of mail ballots for removal of a director violates federal credit union bylaws.
