2013 Lapel Pin Campaign Kicks Off
As this year draws to a close, it is time to begin our 2013 Lapel Pin campaign. With more than $90,000 raised with a successful 2012 campaign, this year has continued the positive growth trend the league has seen for several years. Our credit union participation level has also continued to grow with more than 100 member institutions participating.
Regardless the size of your credit union, lapel pins are an easy way to contribute to your State PAC. With contribution levels ranging from $25 to $1,000 there is a pin for everyone in your organization. To make the lapel pins accessible to all, we offer several payment options from a one-time payment, to a 5, 10, or 12 month payroll deduction plan. The order forms, found here, take only a few minutes to fill out and will help your credit union achieve its 2013 state PAC goal.
In addition to going back to the traditional pin backing, we have revised our design of the pin for 2013. The MCUL & Affiliate’s advocacy programs would not be positioned for success without your continued support. Please contact Ashley Ligon at Ashley.Ligon@mcul.org or (800) 262-6285, ext. 353, with any questions or for additional information on running a lapel pin campaign.
MCULLAF Achieves $300,000 Fundraising Goal
The MCULLAF (federal) PAC has surpassed its $300,000 set goal for the year, a new fundraising record. With a few weeks still remaining in 2012, MCULLAF has raised an astonishing $305,697.78, which is 102% of this year’s goal. A strong performance from the Grand Raffle program and other federal PAC programs helped to reach and pass the milestone.
“Our participating credit unions have made 2012 our strongest fundraising year to date,” MCUL & Affiliates CEO David Adams said. "We are extraordinarily thankful for their efforts, which will continue to ensure that we have a strong voice in Washington, D.C."
The MCULAF (state) PAC has also had a strong showing this year, but has not yet reached its set goal. As of mid-December, MCULAF has raised $182,180, which is 91% of the state PAC goal and still a record amount for the state PAC. If credit unions are interested in helping to meet the goal in the last few weeks, there is still time to hold a casual day or other fundraiser to help. With regard to institutional and chapter goals, credit unions can see where they currently stand by clicking here. For any questions on goals or fundraising opportunities, contact Kieran Marion at Kieran.Marion@mcul.org or Melissa Osborn at Melissa.Osborn@mcul.org.
Registration is Still Open for the 2013 CUNA GAC
There is still time to join your fellow credit union officials at the 2013 CUNA GAC on Feb. 24-28 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The GAC offers great networking opportunities and provides credit union officials with the chance to discuss key legislative and compliance issues with their congressional representatives and federal regulators. In addition to the Capitol Hill visits, the CUNA GAC will feature exciting and influential keynote speakers. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or a first-time participant, we encourage you to register. To sign up for the event, click here. This year, MCUL & Affiliates have chosen the Grand Hyatt Hotel through the CUNA Housing Bureau as the host hotel. There are still plenty of rooms available, and you can find the instructions for the reservation procedure by clicking here. Through the CURE Defense Fund, scholarships are also still available to assist with the cost of attending and participating. For questions about CUNA GAC activities, hotel accommodations or scholarships, contact Kieran Marion at Kieran.Marion@mcul.org or (800) 262-6285, ext. 465, or Ashley Ligon at Ashley.Ligon@mcul.org or ext. 353.
