Participate in MCUL’s Lapel Pin Campaign to Reach Your 2012 State PAC Goal
Every year the MCUL establishes state and federal PAC fundraising goals for our member credit unions. The funds raised by MCULAF (state PAC) and MCULLAF (federal PAC) play a critical role in our advocacy efforts in both Lansing and Washington, allowing us to provide financial support to credit union friendly political candidates. If every credit union sold lapel pins to reach their state fundraising goal, MCULAF would be one of the 10 largest PACs in the state. We continue to make strides in our political fundraising, surpassing the Michigan Bankers’ Association state PAC in 2011. Last year, MCULAF advanced upward to number 20 on the list of Michigan’s 150 largest political action committees. The proceeds from the sales of MCULAF lapel pins will ensure we have the financial resources necessary to help candidates that understand and value the CU difference. You’re not only making a contribution, you’re making an investment in the future strength of our industry. Pins range in price from $25 to $1000. Lapel pin campaigns are easy to administer and with payroll deduction, you can spread your staff’s contributions over several months. Credit Union Leaders Needed at State Government Affairs Conference, April 17-18 in Lansing
Legislative leaders representing districts throughout Michigan look forward to receiving updates from credit unions leaders at the annual legislative luncheon during the MCUL’s Government Affairs Conference in Lansing. This year’s event will be held on April 17-18, featuring Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley as our keynote speaker. After receiving legislative and regulatory updates from MCUL staff, participants will have the opportunity to discuss our current legislative issues with lawmakers from their region. In 2011, more than 90 lawmakers and 120 legislative staffers participated in the event. Be sure your region is well represented by filling your chapter’s table at this year’s luncheon. This two-day program is packed full of informative and educational sessions for CU managers and leaders of all ranks. Click here to view this year’s agenda and access our online registration.
