The adage is true: 30 years of work can be destroyed in 30 seconds. Somewhere within every organization, a crisis is waiting to happen. The purpose of this hands-on, interactive seminar is to provide credit union management with information on how to deal with the media during a crisis. Participants will learn what the media need, and how media can help YOU get information to the public quickly.

Attendees will learn how to respond to questions briefly and directly, with honesty and candor, and learn how to control the flow of information. With hands-on instruction, several participants will do news interviews in front of a camera and critiques will follow. This session goes a step further, with instructions on how to hold a news conference and how to handle a group of reporters.

This preparation is needed for any crisis, when time is critical and working with the media is a priority.

Participants will learn:

  • Understanding reporters.
  • Inside the newsroom during a crisis.
  • How to manage a crisis ... 12 key audiences.
  • Advanced answering techniques.
  • How to overcome nervousness.
  • How to hold a news conference.
