It’s Michigan’s biggest credit union event of the year and it’s right around the corner. MCUL & Affiliates’ Annual Convention & Exposition begins Thursday at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, near Traverse City.
Sen. Debbie Stabenow will address a general session at the MCUL & Affiliates Annual Convention and Exposition this coming Saturday, July 14, where more than 575 attendees are registered for the conference, which begins Thursday, July 12.
OFIR Deputy Commissioner John Kolhoff is also scheduled to make remarks on Saturday, followed by a keynote address by financial strategist Lee Wetherington entitled, “Innovating from the Future Backward: The Art and Science of Strategic Foresight in Financial Services.”
The general session on Friday, July 13, includes opening remarks from MCUL Chairman George Isola and MCUL & Affiliates CEO David Adams, followed by NCUA board member Michael Fryzel. Friday's keynote speaker is former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu, R-N.H., who is expected to speak in detail about the economic landscape, financial and regulatory reform, and the transformative effect of technology.

The 2012 AC&E takes place this week, Thursday through Saturday, July 12-14, at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, with a pre-event charity golf outing taking place Wednesday, July 11, at the Wolverine Golf Course, which is on the resort grounds.
Attendees are encouraged to check the Michigan Department of Transportation website here to evaluate travel routes for construction and to remember that the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is located in the town of Acme when using GPS travel assistance.
Those with smartphones or tablets are encouraged to bring the devices and download the free conference apps here which are available for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. There is complimentary wi-fi throughout common areas of the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, and attendees are encouraged to check the hotel where they are staying for any costs related to Internet access. Internet kiosks being sponsored by CU Direct Corp. will be available during conference hours for attendee convenience, and will be located in the attendee lounge which features soft seating, refreshments, cable television, news and recreation.
Business casual and resort attire is appropriate for all conference activities, and participants may choose to come as they are or dress-up for the Thursday night "Classic Hollywood"-themed welcome reception. Attendees are also encouraged to bring along a light sweater or jacket for their individual comfort, since room temperatures may fluctuate.
League staff and event planners are already on their way to the conference, so all registration additions or changes should now be made at the Information and Registration Desk when participants arrive.
