Winner Chosen in Grand Raffle Drawing (Misc News: November 15, 2011)
MCULAF/MCULLAF Board of Trustees members Howard Spencer, left, chairman at Northland Area FCU, Karen Wietzke, executive vice president of Option 1 CU and Donald Yuvan, chairman at Eaton County Educational CU, show the winning Grand Raffle ticket.
The drawing for the MCULLAF (federal PAC) Grand Raffle was held at the MCUL & Affiliates Lansing headquarters on Nov. 14. The winner for the 2011 Grand Raffle is from U.P. State CU, ticket number 6889. The ticket was sold at Great Lakes First FCU in Escanaba.
The 2011 Grand Raffle raised the highest amount in the history of the program, raising $168,990 for the MCULLAF (federal) PAC. That is a $17,975 increase over the previous year and $10,770 more than the previous Grand Raffle record from 2009. As a result, two records were set this year: All 40,000 tickets were distributed to 140 credit unions for the first time and the most money in Grand Raffle history was raised.
"Thank you to all of our member credit unions that participated in this program this year," said Jami Meyer, political affairs coordinator for MCUL & Affiliates.
This year’s grand prize is a choice between $20,000 toward the price of a 2011 Chevy Malibu or $20,000 cash, and the seller of the winning ticket will receive $500.
The raffle has been held every year but one since 1991.
