Fed to Issue Final Debit Interchange Rule Today (Misc News: June 29, 2011)
The Federal Reserve will issue its final rule on debit interchange at its open meeting this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
The public is invited to watch the meeting via webcast. Visit www.federalreserve.gov and click on the webcast image on the right side of the home page. Those attending the open meeting had to register with the Fed, but no registration for the webcast is required.
The Fed will release its final rule 20 minutes before the open meeting begins.
The Fed has offered no details about the rule to this point. Unless the Fed says it will delay implementation of the rule, the financial services industry will have less than a month to implement it.
