Credit union leaders from across Michigan gathered on July 28, a beautiful day to play golf and boost legislative advocacy at the CURE Golf Outing in East Lansing.
Ninety-eight golfers participated in the ninth annual event at Forest Akers West golf course by the campus of Michigan State University, and 30 sponsors helped to raise the $29,596 that will go toward scholarships for credit union officials to attend important grassroots lobbying events. This dollar amount tops last year’s total of $29,025.
The team award for first place went to Sam Paraschos, John Clothier, Sid DeCou, and Joe Eufinger of Flint Area School ECU (FL); the team award for second place went to Doug Burroughs of CUNA Mutual Group, and Tommie Culpepper, Ron Darling, and Robin Frucci of LAFCU (LN).
Individual awards went to Terri Papiersky of South Central CU (JA) and Alan Augustine of University of Michigan CU (HV) for longest drive; and Janice Rose of E & A CU (ME) and Gerald Little of Wanigas CU (MM), for closest-to-pin.
