CUs Urged to Report Classroom Presentations to the NYIB (Monitor: June 7, 2010)
Michigan credit unions have been recognized for leading the nation with their total number of classroom and youth financial education presentations for a decade, but only because credit union staff took the time to report their presentations to the National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB). To keep the streak alive, credit unions are encouraged to report their presentations to the NYIB by this year's early July deadline.
The NYIB is a national network of credit union professionals committed to reaching youth, and serves as the national collection point for financial literacy presentation data. This NYIB reporting year runs from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010, and the deadline for reporting is Tuesday, July 6. Credit unions can log in at www.nyib.org to report their presentations, and further information is available in the NYIB presentation guide (PDF). NYIB Regional Coordinator Pam Swope can be contacted for reporting assistance at 989-460-6225, or pam@nyib.org.
The MCUL website’s financial education pages provide tools and resources to help credit unions with financial education outreach and classroom presentations. For assistance in this area, contact MCUL Financial Education Coordinator Beth Troost at ext. 453 or Beth.Troost@mcul.org.
