Prep Underway for Financial Literacy Legislative Challenge   (Monitor: March 22, 2010)

Fifty-two lawmakers and 48 credit unions across the state have signed up for the 2010 MCUL Financial Literacy Legislative Challenge, but 14 of the lawmakers are not yet matched with credit unions in their districts. Credit unions that are not signed up for the initiative and are interested in participating should check the list of unmatched lawmakers (Word doc) to see if there is one in their area.

Now in its seventh year, the MCUL’s Financial Literacy Legislative Challenge helps build relationships between credit unions and lawmakers through collaborative financial education presentations to students or visits to student-run credit union branches. The Challenge takes place throughout April to coincide with National Financial Literacy Month. The third week in April is National Credit Union Youth Week as well as Michigan’s Money Smart Week, an initiative of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

If you are interested in participating, contact Kathryn Hall of the MCUL at Kathryn.Hall@mcul.org or ext. 470.
