Scripps Replaces Coulouris as House Banking Chair (Monitor: March 22, 2010)
State Rep. Andy Coulouris, D-Saginaw, has stepped down as chairman of the House Banking and Financial Services Committee and has been replaced by State Rep. Dan Scripps, D-Leland, who had served previously as vice chairman. State Rep. Roy
Schmidt, D-Grand Rapids, now serves as vice chairman.
Coulouris, a strong advocate of the credit union movement who has participated in many MCUL and Mid-Michigan Chapter events, stated late in 2009 that he will not seek reelection in the next cycle, which resulted in the change in committee leadership. Both Scripps and Schmidt have relationships with credit unions through legislative breakfasts and initiatives such as the Financial Literacy Legislative Challenge.
