… On Friday, Nov. 2, the Metro East Chapter hosted a legislative breakfast at Michigan Schools and Government CU in Clinton Township. Congressman Sander Levin, D-Royal Oak, joined state Sen. Phil Pavlov, R-St. Clair; state Rep. Jeff Farrington, R-Utica; state Rep. Andrea LaFontaine, R-Richmond, and state Rep. Anthony Forlini, Harrison Twp., joined more than 30 local credit union leaders for the discussion. Federal issues discussed included the increasing regulatory burden, member business lending and legislation to amend privacy notice requirements. Participants also discussed issues with Michigan’s foreclosure process, blight legislation and financial elder abuse. Chapter legislative breakfasts continue to be great opportunities to educate your local lawmakers on our current state and federal issues. ...An audio session on the 15 Worst Security Mistakes has been rescheduled for Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to noon (EST) following a disruption due to Hurricane Sandy. The session is delivered in cooperation with the Illinois CU League and is priced at $129 per connection. … Shawn Wolbert, legislative and regulatory affairs specialist for MCUL & Affiliates, will speak about Troubled Debt Restructuring at The International Credit Association of Eastern Michigan meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Wolbert will review loan workout arrangements and Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council requirements. Employees from all levels are invited to attend the meeting.
