Credit Union Link Co-Sponsors Food Drive

With the holiday season getting underway, many credit unions are reaching out to help the less fortunate, and Credit Union Link is doing the same.

Credit Union Link was proud to sponsor the 2012 WDVD/WDRQ Canned Film Festival to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. Through the program, anyone who brought five or more canned food items to a participating MJR Theatre on Nov.14 received free admission to the movie of his/her choice.

The sponsorship, part of additional fall advertising opportunities funded by CUcorp, allowed CU Link to be part of a community project and included announcements in radio spots, two e-newsletters for listeners and press releases about the event. The CU Link logo was also used on posters and radio station websites.

Kroger, one of the other sponsors of the Canned Film Festival, also matched donations of Kroger brand canned food up to $5,000.

Over the past 5 years, 96.3 WDVD/93.1 Doug-FM, in partnership with Gleaners Community Food Bank, has collected and distributed more  than 214,000 pounds of non-perishables to help feed hungry local families through this annual event.

Last year, Gleaners distributed 45 million pounds of emergency food to over 600 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties.
