Patrick LaPine, Executive Vice President of Association Services, MCUL
As Executive Vice President of Association Services, Patrick La Pine manages the Governmental Affairs, Education, Public Affairs and Information Services functions of the Michigan Credit Union League. Additionally, he also serves as Executive Director of the CURE Defense Fund, which was formed by the League to engage in ongoing extraordinary defense strategies to promote the credit union movement, in both the legal and legislative arenas as well as conduct various issue advocacy activities to promote and advance common interests of the credit union movement.
Patrick came to the MCUL in January 1999 from the Michigan House of Representatives, where he served for more than four years as Legislative Assistant to State Representative Agnes Dobronski (D-Dearborn). Prior to working for Rep. Dobronski, Patrick was a Staff Assistant to former U.S. Senator Don Riegle, Jr. (D-Mich.).
Patrick has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Michigan State University and a Master's degree in public administration from the University of Michigan.
In March 2007, Governor Jennifer M. Granholm appointed Patrick to the Ferris State University Board of Trustees. His term runs through December 31, 2014. He also sits on the Michigan Higher Education Facilities Authority (MHEFA). MHEFA exists to lower the cost of non-profit higher education by providing Michigan's private, non-profit educational institutions access to tax-exempt capital.
