Comparative Analysis of Fees Charged by Banks vs. Credit Unions
Galina Britton
Michigan credit unions provide excellent member benefits on many savings and loan products, particularly with lower average loan rates on new car loans, personal unsecured loans, first mortgage-fixed rate, home equity loans and credit cards. So how are credit unions stacking up compared to banks? Well, the Credit Union National Association estimates that Michigan credit unions provided $412,917,228 in direct financial benefits to the state’s members during the twelve months ending December 2009. But in light of new regulations, this session will help take a closer look at fees and income, by comparing interest rates of banks and credit unions and the ways some banks are making up for lost revenue, (e.g. by charging monthly maintenance fees for customers who don’t meet minimum balance requirements, etc.)

Auto Lending Best Practices and Risk Management

Also learn important risk management tactics that will ensure your credit union’s long-term profitability. This session will provide vital insight to a number of topics that will help your credit union take its auto lending program and portfolio success to the next level!
