Hike the Hill

The Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) Hike the Hill is an important grassroots program to provide credit unions with the opportunity to visit Washington to educate decision makers on credit union issues. When credit unions participate in Hike the Hill, they continue to tell their story to lawmakers and weigh in on important issues that impact them.

2009 Hike the Hill Recap

The Michigan Credit Union League's (MCUL) 10th Annual Hike the Hill grassroots lobbying trip to Washington, D.C. was June 3 and 4.

Twenty-two credit union people along with MCUL staff met with members of Michigan’s congressional delegation for Hike the Hill. Attendees discussed issues such as corporate credit union stabilization, community reinvestment act (CRA), and regulatory restructuring as they visited all 17 Michigan congressional offices. Attendees received a briefing from CUNA and attended a luncheon with NCUA Executive Director Dave Marquis as the featured speaker. While on the Hill, attendees urged members to oppose any legislation that would affect the interchange received by card-issuing credit unions.
