The Mid-Michigan Chapter of Credit Unions held their legislative breakfast on October 15th at the Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw. In attendance were 40 credit union professionals and three lawmakers. Michigan legislators in attendance included Sens. Mike Green (R-Mayville) and Roger Kahn (R-Saginaw) and Rep. Ken Horn (R-Frankenmuth). A wonderful breakfast buffet was followed by lawmaker introductions and a question and answer period. Topics of discussion included the 90-day workout period, the ballot proposals, election predictions, financial elder abuse, blight violation legislation, personal property taxes, BCBS and local projects in the area. Legislative breakfasts are a great way to stay connected with your lawmaker and educate them on the issues important to credit unions.
