David Adams
David is the CEO of the Michigan Credit Union League & Affiliates, CU Solutions Group and CU Village.com and also provides management services for HR Value Group and League InfoSight. During his credit union career, he has held numerous board seats and committee assignments including work for the American Association of Credit Union Leagues and the Credit Union National Association. A native of Utah, he holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah and a master's in business administration from Utah State University.

Michael Bell
Michael is with the law firm of  Kotz, Sangster, Wysocki and Berg, P.C. and represents business clients ranging from single entrepreneurs, to publicly traded companies, through performance of a variety of legal tasks including: business structuring, labor and employment issues, acquisitions and expansion, and contract review and negotiation. He represents both state and federally chartered credit unions ranging in size from an excess of one billion dollars in assets to five million dollars in assets.

Franklin Drake
Frank has been a partner in the Raleigh, North Carolina law firm of Smith Debnam Narron Drake Saintsing & Myers since 1994, following a sixteen year practice specializing in creditor's rights, bankruptcy and repossession law in Louisville, Kentucky. He has lectured at bankruptcy and regulatory compliance programs for NASCUS, CUNA, NAFCU, state regulators and credit union leagues across the United States. Frank possesses a bachelor's of arts with honors and a law degree from the University of North Carolina.

Angela Hall
Angie has been with the Michigan Credit Union League approximately ten years.  She formerly worked in the Governmental Affairs Department, and more recently as the Sprint product coordinator. Currently, she is a league representative working with credit unions in southeast Michigan. Angie holds a bachelor’s of art in social science from Eastern Michigan University and master’s degree from Wayne State University.

Robin D. Hoag
Robin is the senior director of the financial institutions group at Doeren Mayhew. During the past 34 years, he has developed a national reputation as a credit union expert, working with more than 250 credit unions, ranging in size from $50 million to over $3 billion. His is an audit director, management consultant, and national speaker on credit union issues. His expertise covers a wide variety of areas, including audit and internal control systems, mergers and consolidations, forensics and fraud and credit union risk management.

Fred Kelly
Upon joining the Vining Sparks team, Fred was involved in marketing, where he assisted Vining Sparks customers with training for their directors and executive management. He was also responsible for creating educational materials used for seminars and Webinars. Currently, he assists credit unions in developing high performing investment portfolios in concert with overall balance sheet strategies that optimize asset/liability management, capital adequacy and regulatory guidelines.

Stephanie Klocinski
Stephanie has worked within the credit union industry for seven years.  She is a former branch manager and also worked with a mortgage CUSO in marketing and business development. Currently, she is a league representative with the Michigan Credit Union League working with credit unions in southeast and west Michigan. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s of arts in marketing and graphic communication from Baker College.

John Kolhoff
John has worked for the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation since 1994 and is the assistant director of the credit union division, responsible for supervising the credit union safety and soundness examinations for 212 state-chartered credit unions and information technology examinations for all state-chartered credit unions and banks. He holds a bachelor’s in science in business administration from Central Michigan University.

Veronica Madsen
Veronica has been counsel for the Michigan Credit Union League & Affiliates and CUcorp since July 2005. She has also served as the MCUL & Affiliates regulatory specialist and later a League consultant. As counsel, Veronica provides legal advice for the League and its subsidiaries. She is a frequent and popular speaker at MCUL & Affiliates educational events and presents the bi-annual Reg Update Webinar.

Ken Otsuka
Ken is a risk manager product expert in the credit union protection risk management department for CUNA Mutual Group. In this role, Ken assists credit unions in identifying areas of risk in their operations, and recommends appropriate loss controls to reduce loss exposure.
Ken is frequently asked to speak by various organizations on a variety of fraud and compliance topics. He is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and received a certified public accountant designation in 1982.

Jeff Rendel
Jeff brings a wealth of education, knowledge and experience to the platform, with experience as a federal regulator, financial executive and Congressional lobbyist, Jeff knows business and the financial services’ marketplace. As president of Rising Above Enterprises, Jeff works with professionals who want greater professional growth and with financial services’ providers that want deeper market penetration and engaged, committed workforces.

John Rupert
John is the CEO of Muskegon Co-op Federal Credit Union. He previously worked as a consultant with the Michigan Credit Union League and has experience with several other financial institutions. John is involved with Muskegon Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. He attend Spring Arbor University.

 

H. Vance Vargo
Vance has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and has been the president and CEO of Family First Credit Union since March 2005. He was previously employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Banking as a financial institutions examiner supervisor.  He possesses a bachelor’s of art in management from and a master’s of business administration. Vance currently serves as a trustee on the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, and on the NASCUS education committee.

Wade Oliver
Wade joined Vining Sparks in 2003 and is currently the director of Asset/Liability Management, a group that provides outsourced A/L reports and other technical assistance to the firm’s customers and sales representatives. Wade has been a frequent speaker at various industry and regulatory seminars, has written numerous articles for various trade publications. Prior to joining Vining Sparks, Wade was employed by a $3bb financial institution in the Midwest. Wade earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Memphis.
