David Adams
Dave is president and CEO of the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates, CU Solutions Group and CU Village.com and also provides management services for HR Value Group and League InfoSight. During his credit union career, Dave has held numerous board seats and committee assignments including work for the American Association of Credit Union Leagues and the Credit Union National Association. A native of Utah, he holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah and a master's in business administration from Utah State University.
Charles Ballard
Charles has been on the economics faculty at Michigan State University since 1983, when he received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. In 2007, he became director of the State of the State Survey, in MSU’s Institute for Public Policy and Social Research. Also in 2007, he won the Outstanding Teacher Award in MSU’s College of Social Science. He has served as a consultant with the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Health & Human Services and Treasury, and with research institutes in Australia, Denmark and Finland. His books include Michigan at the Millennium and Michigan’s Economic Future.
Karen Church
Karen was introduced to the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” working a co-op position at ELGA Credit Union her senior year in high school. She returned to ELGA Credit Union in 1978 to further develop her credit union career and was named CEO in 1993. Karen has seen ELGA grow from a one branch, three million dollar credit union, with five employees to a two hundred seventy million, eight branch credit union, employing 145 associates. Karen is involved in numerous community events each year, is an active member in her church and Zonta. She has been happily married for 32 years and is especially proud of her son and daughter, both Michigan State graduates.
Drew Egan
Drew is president/COO of CUcorp, the MCUL and Affiliates wholly-owned for profit subsidiary. He joined MCUL/CUcorp in 1998. In addition to his CUcorp responsibilities, Drew is in charge of marketing, product development and strategic planning for all MCUL & Affiliate companies, as well as the Center for Board Excellence. Drew holds a master's of business administration from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor's of arts in Finance from the University of Utah. Prior to coming to Michigan he served as executive vice president\COO of the Utah League of Credit Unions where he had operational responsibility for the League and Service Corporation serving.
Robert R. Hackney III
Bob has been president of Card Services For Credit Unions, Inc. since 1998 and has over 17 years of card industry experience. He has served on Visa’s deposit products executive council, as well as on the Visa U.S.A. and Visa international boards of directors, and currently serves on Visa’s risk and operations council. Bob is a certified public accountant and received his master's of business administration in finance and bachelor's of business administration in accounting from Florida State University, as well as a bachelor's of science in business administration from the University of Florida.
Mark C. Meyer, J.D.
Mark is the CEO of the Filene Research Institute, a consumer finance, academic based, think tank headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. Mark joined the Institute in January 2003, starting an open-source revolution in credit unions. He founded the prestigious Filene i3, a group of next generation credit union leaders focused on identifying and launching transformative financial products, services, or business models relevant to consumers. An internationally recognized credit union expert, Mark’s opinion and research has been cited in dozens of publications.
