Financially Made Home

The Financially Made program is a financial education/saving program that turns teens into financially savvy consumers. The program was created by the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) to draw more media attention to the problem of youth financial illiteracy—and the unique things that credit unions are doing to boost the financial smarts of their young members.

There is no cost to participate in the program, other than costs incurred for printing promotional materials and staff time/resources.

Financially Made: The What, When, Where & How
Participating credit unions will invite members ages 13-17 to qualify for the “Made” promotion by completing a short essay creatively

illustrating why they should be “Made” more financially savvy. In their essays, contestants will also identify a short-term financial goal, such as purchasing an iPod or cell phone.

Your credit union and the MCUL will have creative license to use all entries for purposes of pitching youth financial literacy and the “Made” program to the media.

To encourage participation, credit unions will match up to $100-250 in the student’s savings account established specifically for the contest and related short-term goal. Contest winners will be required to participate in a day-long financial education course and an individual budget meeting with a representative from GreenPath Debt Solutions

The MCUL will work with you to secure media coverage of the “Financially Made” contests.
