Credit Union-supported Candidates Win 86% of 2010 Midterm Elections
Below are the results for MCUL’s list of supported candidates for Congress and the MCULAF-endorsed candidates for the Michigan House and Senate with results from the Nov. 2 elections. The bipartisan list features candidates that have shown support for credit unions and their issues with voting records as well as questionnaires. The PAC support provided by member credit unions continues to play an increasingly important role in our efforts.
Overall, 13 of 15 MCUL-endorsed congressional candidates and 98 of 114 endorsed State House and Senate candidates were successful. While a number of Democratic credit union supporters will not return to Lansing, including House Financial Services Committee Chairman Dan Scripps (D-Northport), the MCUL state and federal lawmakers of the year – State Senator Randy Richardville (R-Monroe) and Rep. Dave Camp (R-Midland) — both are looking to fill critical positions within their respective caucuses. Richardville is a contender to be Senate Majority Leader, while Camp is the frontrunner for chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
If you have questions about the endorsements or the process, please contact MCUL Vice President of Government and Public Affairs Marcia Hune at Marcia.Hune@mcul.org or (800) 262-6285 ext. 465.
