MCUL Compliance Strategies

Overview: MCUL and CUcorp provide compliance products and services in a variety of ways from simply raising awareness of new regulatory developments using various MCUL publications to providing in-house consulting through CUcorp’s fee-based compliance consulting service. There are 4 broad areas and 7 primary channels that MCUL uses in organizing this area.

A. Compliance Awareness

1. Use of MCUL Publications to Raise Awareness
-Free publications that are carefully used depending on the timeliness factor of new regulations or announcements (Monitor and Lead Story), and depending on various targeted audiences: Senior Management – IIS, Reg Roundup and Contact; Compliance Staff – InfoSight Newsletter, FAQs; and SAS Credit Unions – SAS Gazette.
 

2. The Regulatory Affairs Website
-Free regulatory and compliance information, issue briefs, links to primary and secondary resources. Special pages dedicated to high profile, fast-moving issues.

B. Compliance Education and Training

3. MCUL Education Events and CU Campus Videos
-Fee-based events (either totally compliance or individual sessions as part of longer programs) split between new issues and issues that are needed year to year. Special sessions planned on an emergency basis.
-Fee-based (reduced pricing) Webinars on Demand available post live session.
-Free compliance videos available 24/7.

C. Searchable Compliance Library

4. InfoSight Compliance Research Library
-Free compliance library available to members 24/7. MI CUs second highest user.
-Free assistance from Helpline Consultant in how to use InfoSight.

D. Assistance

5. Compliance Helpline
-Free assistance for compliance and operational questions requiring immediate attention. InfoSight assistance. Agency monitoring and starting point for other uses/services.
 

6. Compliance Related Networks Available to Credit Unions
-Free (or nominal-fee) participation in compliance networks promoted by MCUL.
-Collection Consortium; Network for Internal Auditors and Compliance Officers (AACUIA).


7. Fee-Based Compliance Services (CUcorp)
-In house consulting services for more in depth compliance needs in these areas: Compliance, auditing, policy development, governance and strategic planning.
-Full service shared compliance consulting
