2014 Committees, Councils and Task Forces

AWARDS AND COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT COMMITTEE

Charge: Foster and highlight credit union community reinvestment initiatives, financial education and other commendable activities related to state and national awards amongst the Michigan credit union system. Provide input on highlighting credit union CRI, financial education and award winning activity to lawmakers and the greater community through the MCUL CRI Annual Survey and Aggregate Report. Administer the MCUL awards within guidelines approved by the MCUL Board of Directors. Promote the MCUL awards and the CUNA Maxwell, Herring and Desjardins awards to encourage increased quantity and quality of submissions.

CULINK COMMITTEE 

Charge: Make recommendations to the MCUL CEO and MCUL Board in developing, approving and executing fund-raising and media plans and communicating research results. Act as advocates to encourage broader support, both philosophically and financially, for cooperative advertising and to communicate progress in the credit union community. Bring concerns, comments and questions about this initiative to the attention of MCUL staff.

EDUCATIONAL NEEDS COMMITTEE 

Charge: Make recommendations to the MCUL CEO and/or the MCUL Board of Directors regarding specific strategies and topics for major MCUL education events including the Annual Convention & Exposition (AC&E), leadership conferences, Executive Summit, MCUL GAC and online education resources. Maximize participation and provide educational events and resources that meet important needs of the credit union community.

EXAMINATION AND SUPERVISION COMMITTEE 

Charge: Gather input, advise and provide recommendations to the MCUL President/CEO and/or the MCUL Board of Directors regarding specific issues for improving both state and federal examination practices, communications, and the supervision environment generally.

GOVERNMENT AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS FORUM – (this committee is done by appointment only)

Charge: Advise and provide policy recommendations to the MCUL President/CEO and/or MCUL Board of Directors regarding legislative and regulatory issues affecting the credit union movement; and provide a means by which affiliated credit unions can participate in grassroots legislative advocacy and political action functions of the League.

STATE AND FEDERAL ISSUES WORKING GROUP

Charge: Provide direction to the Government and Political Affairs Forum and MCUL staff on legislative and regulatory issues affecting both state and federal credit unions.

FINANCIAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Charge: Foster and highlight consumer financial education activities by credit unions for their members and the communities they serve. Make recommendations to the MCUL for financial education resources, initiatives and programs that will help expand industry commitment to financial education. Act as advocates to encourage broader participation in financial education activities. Assist the MCUL in showcasing best practices in financial education by credit unions.
