The Michigan Credit Union League's (MCUL) 9th Annual Hike the Hill grassroots lobbying trip to Washington, D.C. was June 11 and 12.
With eleven members of Michigan’s delegation signed on as co-sponsors of the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act, CURIA- HR 1537 (Reps Camp, Conyers, Hoekstra, Kildee, Kilpatrick, Knollenberg, Levin, McCotter, Stupak, Upton and Walberg), and with the Credit Union Regulatory Relief Act, (CURRA- HR 5519) the banking lobby stepped up their grassroots lobbying efforts against credit unions in Washington. It was imperative that the Michigan credit union delegation showed its congressional members and senators the importance of the credit union movement.
Michigan credit unions are known for grassroots lobbying strength and it was demonstrated in June. Please click here to see the congressional brochure that was taken to Washington, as well as the flyer with credit union information for each Congressional district.
